I hear it alot from Calvinists that claim they are evangelistic: "that's hyper-calvinism" when pointing out many of the inconsistencies about limited atonment and unconditional election. I won't go into those here (because of I've done it on other articles and comments in this section), but wanted to make a quick note on another glaring inconsistency among Calvinists that claim they want to see people converted and saved from their sins, and my question is, WHY?
Would any Calvinist deny that we are to have the mind of Christ? 1 Cor 2:16, Phil 2:5, and that we should want what God wants? If that were true (and of course it is) the Calvinist must admit to a blatant inconsistency or disregard for the Scriptures, and that is the failure to WANT some people to go to hell.
Calvinist doctrine is clear, whether from the infralapsarian or supralapsarian view, that only some are going to heaven by decree. The issue (among several others) is how the non elect get to their destination. But whether it is by decree that some are purposely elected for hell or merely passed over, BOTH systems result in the choice or non choice being made as a result of what and how God wanted it. The Calvinist must admit that if God COULD HAVE saved everyone, but didn't, and only chose to save some, then those He didn't save He did not save because He didn't WANT TO.
Therefore, if God Himself doesn't WANT to save everyone, then why would the Calvinist? Why can't the Calvinist just be honest and admit that there are just some people that they want to see go to hell and burn for eternity?
Now just in case some Calvinist objects "we don't know who the unelect are", that doesn't change the question or the conundrum. I may not KNOW who stole my car, that doesn't mean that I don't want justice for my stolen property merely because I don't know who stole it. I can't see myself telling the police, "That's OK, officer, I don't want to file a report, I don't know who did it". Just because you don't know who the non-elect are, shouldn't change your desires and wants for those unelected to burn in hell.
I'll expound this more later.
